In Institute are spent fundamental and applied researches:

• problems of formation of regional policy;
• control systems and ecology-economic regulation of development of regions;
• rational use of industrial, labor, nature-resource and mental potential of regions;
• a market infrastructure and business;
• foreign trade activities and cross-boeder cooperation;
• regional statistics.

The institute carries out:

• preparation of projects of programs of social and economic development of different territorial units and the industrial enterprises, the organizations;
• development of techniques, projects of legislative and statutory acts;
• scientific examinations;
• the organization of meetings, seminars, conferences;
• gives consultations from all directions of the scientific activity.

The Institute carries out functions of the methodological, scientific-organizational and coordination center.
