Requirements for Papers

General information

Journal "Socio-economic problems of the modern period of Ukraine" is a professional scientific-practical publication, founded by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Editorial Board accepted for publication in the journal papers of problem, generalizing, methodical nature, the results of original scientific, practical, educational-methodological research in the form of papers that were not published previously, from the following indicated thematic sections:

  • Economics and National Economy Management;
  • Territorial Development and Regional Economics;
  • Development of Rural Territories and Agrarian Sector of the Economy;
  • Transborder Cooperation;
  • Environmental Policy and Nature Management;
  • Economics of Labor, Demography, Social Policy;
  • Budget and Tax Policy;
  • Investment and Innovation Activity;
  • Banking;
  • Accounting, Analysis and Audit;
  • World Economy and Foreign Economic Relations;
  • Economic problems of development of types of economic activity;
  • Economics and Business Management;
  • Economic Theory and History of Economic Thought;
  • Methods and models of forecasting in the economy.

The journal is published 6 times a year..

The journal "Socio-economic problems of the modern period of Ukraine" publishes papers that were previously reviewed and evaluated by the editorial board and successfully passed the review stage.

The defining criteria for selection of papers for publication in the journal are: innovation nature, scientific novelty, relevance and practical value.

The editorial board of the journal "Socio-economic problems of the modern period of Ukraine" invites domestic authors (scientists and practitioners) and authors from foreign countries to collaborate, who in their research consider development problems at the macro, meso and micro levels. The editorial board strives to ensure that the journal is of interest to a wide range of readers.

Publisher: Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The journal "Socio-economic problems of the modern period of Ukraine" is included in the List of scientific professional editions of Ukraine in the field of economic sciences (Resolution of the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine dated by July 11, 2016, No. 820).

The journal has been added to the international science-based database Index Copernicus, Poland since 2014.

Rules for authors

Basic requirements for publication in the journal

Editorial office accepts original, previously not published papers on theoretical and applied issues of regional economy written on actual problem that contain the results of deep scientific research and have justification of scientific results according to the purpose the paper.

Papers submitted for editorial boards’ consideration are checked for correspondence to the journal theme and to submission requirements. Materials are checked for plagiarism and afterwards reviewed. Papers submitted to the editorial board undergo rigorous internal and external review. In case of negative review result paper may be returned to the author for revision or rejected. The names and coordinates of internal reviewers and the content of their reviews is confidential information that can not be disclosed.

In case of rejection of the paper, the author can submit a new paper to the Editorial Board. The main reasons for rejection of papers: the discrepancy in subjects of journal; insufficient scientific and theoretical level and low practical value of the paper.

Editorial Board reserves the right to make editorial and stylistic edits without coordination with the author. Responsibility for the accuracy of the information, facts and other information, links to regulations, quotations, proper names, and the accuracy of the translations are the authors’ responsibility.

If the paper complies with requirements of Ministry of Education of Ukraine and editorial policy of the journal, the author in the case of a positive response will receive a letter from the editors about the payment for services of a scientific and literary editing preparation and publication of a paper in the paper version, its location and link in Internet.

For publication of the papers authors do not receive royalties.

Requirements for submission of scientific paper

Adhere to the following requirements when preparing the paper:

  • Size of the papers: problem-theoretical, survey and discussion directions - up to 15 pages; dedicated to specific research and their methodology - up to 13; short messages - up to 6; reviews - up to 4; Chronicle - up to 2.
  • Papers are accepted by e-mail, as well as on electronic data carriers (Flash Drives, Memory Cards, CD-R/DVD-R) in Microsoft Word format files.
  • Scientific papers should include the following elements (highlighted in the text):
    • problem statement (definition of analyzed problem and its relationship with scientific and practical tasks, methods applied in the research);
    • analysis of recent research (which initiate the problem solution and which are the basis of author’s research; unsolved aspects of general problem should be outlined; references to foreign authors are welcomed);
    • paper objective (should correlate with abstract);
    • major research findings (with full explanation of obtained results);
    • conclusions (research outcomes, author’s suggestions and perspectives of further research in the sphere; conclusions should correspond to the objective and correlate with abstract);
    • references.
  • Papers should be prepared in А4 format (210х297 mm), margins: top, bottom and left – 2 cm, right – 1,5 cm; first indent – 1,25, line spacing 1,5.
  • Paper structure should be the following:
    • UDC – first page top left (Times New Roman, size 14, bold);
    • In next line top left – JEL Classification code (number of codes – from 2 to 5), Times New Roman, size 14, bold;
    • Through the line - information about the authors in Ukrainian and English (authors up to five persons): full name, first name, patronymic (in full), scientific degree, academic rank, position, place of work / institution name (in full), personal e-mail and ORCID ID (the first author for the left edge, the second author on the right-hand side and so on, font Times New Roman, font size 14, italics);
    • Through the line in the center – title of the paper (font Times New Roman, font size 14, bold);
    • Through the line – abstract in the language of the paper (font Times New Roman, font size 12, italic, single spacing);
    • In next line – keywords in the language of the paper, 5-7 words and phrases (font Times New Roman, font size 12, italic, single spacing);
    • Through the line, in English / Ukrainian – the surnames and initials of the authors, the title of the paper and the expanded annotation (font Times New Roman, font size 12, italics, single spacing);
    • In next line – the keywords in English / Ukrainian (font Times New Roman, font size 12, italic, single spacing);
    • Through the line – the text of the paper in accordance with the general requirements for the figuration (font size 14, line spacing 1,5);
    • Through the line – the sentence "List of used sources" (centered, font Times New Roman, font size 12, bold, single spacing);
    • In next line – a list of used sources, formed by the order of references in the text (font Times New Roman, font size 12, single spacing);
    • Through the line – the sentence "References" (centered, font Times New Roman, font size 12, bold, single spacing);
    • In next line – references, issued according to the international bibliographic standard APA-2010 (font Times New Roman, font size 12, single spacing).
  • Illustrative material (graphs, charts, figures and tables) must be done in the available for editing applications: tables – Microsoft Word; charts – Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Graph; pictures – in the form of organization charts by using the drawing editor Microsoft Word; formula – Microsoft Equation; photos should be saved in the format «*.tiff» or «*.jpeg» with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Titles of tables with their relevant numbers are printed with a new row, righted, in italics; name of the table is on a separate line, centered. Figure title is placed under the illustration, centered, its relevant number indicating in the text. Word «Figure» and number are separated from the title with a dot. The relevant numbers of formulas is carried out right of the formulas in parentheses within the paper.
  • The number of graphic material should be minimal. Graphs and diagrams should not be overloaded with the text labels. Visual materials have to be of high quality. You may not use the text scanned drawings or formulas.
  • Reference to the source in the text should be presented in square brackets, e.g. [1, p. 12], where the first number indicates sequence number of the source in the bibliography, and the second – the appropriate page in the source; one source (with page number) is separated from the rest by a semicolon.

Papers executed with violation of these requirements are not considered by Editorial Board, as reported to the authors.

Requirements for information about the authors

Author’s information provides the full name, degree, academic title, position, institution (in two languages – Ukrainian and English), postal address (with index) of the organization where the author works, home address with postal code, contact phones, e-mail and ORCID ID should be indicated as well.

Requirements for abstracts composing

Each paper submitted to the editorial board should contain keywords and abstracts in two languages (Ukrainian and English).

Annotations are accepted in this form: last name, first name, patronymic of the author (in full), title of the paper, annotation text, list of keywords. Publication in Ukrainian is accompanied by an abstract in English with a volume of at least 350 words (2000 characters), including keywords. The publication in English is accompanied by an annotation in Ukrainian of at least 350 words (2000 characters), including keywords. The abstract of the original article should be at least 150 words (1000 characters).


Requirements for references

List of literature should consist of two blocks: "List of used sources" and "References":

  • Each source in the list of used sources should have a link in the text. Sources are given in order of references and are issued in accordance with the requirements in the field of citation and registration of lists of used literature. These requirements are based on the provisions of DSTU 8302:2015 "Information and documentation. Bibliographic link. General terms and conditions of drafting".
  • References - the same list of literature, but transliterated in the Latin alphabet (recommended by the international standard APA-2010 (APA standard - http://www.bibme.org/citation-guide/APA/book)). Cyrillic names of the bibliographical description of scientific works should be transliterated (in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 2010, Jan 27, No. 55 "On the ordering of transliteration of the Ukrainian alphabet in Latin"), and in square brackets - in English.
