On February 17, 2026, a meeting was held between the Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Project Activities of the Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ph.D. of Economics, Senior Reseacher Solomiya TKACH, and the Vice-Rector for International Activities of the National University "Lviv Polytechnic", Dr.Sci. of Economics, Professor Oleh KARYI.
During the meeting, strategic directions for deepening cooperation between institutions were discussed, in particular in the field of development of international scientific projects, joint research and participation in EU program competitions.
The parties agreed to intensify coordination of efforts to form future international consortia, prepare joint grant applications and strengthen the expert presence of Ukrainian scientists in the European research space. Special attention was paid to issues of institutional capacity, development of interdisciplinary approaches and creation of platforms for sustainable partnership.
The combination of scientific potential of academic and university communities will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of Ukrainian institutions, integration into international networks and the formation of high-quality research initiatives in response to modern challenges.
New opportunities, strong partnerships and ambitious international projects are ahead.

On February 10, 2026, the Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Academy of Humanities and Economics in Lodz (Akademia Humanistyczno-Ekonomiczna w Łodzi) (Poland) signed a cooperation agreement.
The signed document opens a new stage of institutional partnership and expands the horizons for:

• joint scientific research in the field of regional development;
• implementation of educational initiatives and joint academic programs;
• academic exchanges for scientists, teachers, postgraduates and doctoral students of both institutions.

The partnership involves the development and implementation of joint research and educational projects, systematic exchange of experience, strengthening international academic cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine and Poland.
The concluded agreement creates additional opportunities for the integration of Ukrainian regional studies into the European scientific space, increasing the visibility of the institution at the international level and expanding the network of strategic partnerships.
We are convinced that cooperation will become a practical tool for strengthening scientific potential and developing regional research in an international context!

On February 4, 2026, an educational and practical seminar “How to Prepare a Successful Application for a Grant Competition” was held for employees, graduate students and doctoral students of the Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The seminar was devoted to the practical aspects of preparing competitive grant applications: from understanding the logic of donors to clearly structuring ideas, goals and results of projects. This format allows you to move from theoretical ideas to applied solutions relevant to academic and applied research.
Speaker: Markiyan Datsyshyn - National Consultant of the Council of Europe, Head of the Marketing Department of the Lviv Institute of Management.
The seminar program includes:

• logic and structure of a successful grant application;
• typical mistakes of applicants and ways to minimize them;
• donor expectations and project evaluation criteria;
• formation of a problem tree;
• practical approaches to formulating ideas, goals and results.

The seminar was organized by the Department of International Cooperation and Project Activities as an element of systematic work on building a project culture, increasing the Institute's participation in international competitions and strengthening its positions in the European research space.

On January 19, 2026, Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine signed a bilateral agreement on partnership and cooperation with Mariupol State University within the framework of the implementation of the English4Ukraine project – a joint initiative of Mariupol State University and the British-Ukrainian project Twinning Ukraine, founded by Cormack Consultancy Group, which is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The initiation and coordination of this partnership was provided by the Department of International Cooperation and Project Activities of the Institute within the framework of systematic work to strengthen the international presence and project capacity of the institution.

Key objectives of cooperation:

• helping Ukrainians of any level of English proficiency to improve their English-speaking skills;
• promoting the introduction of English as one of the languages ​​of international communication in various spheres of public life;
• providing young students and representatives of the academic community of Ukraine with opportunities for personal and professional development;
• organizing and conducting events within the framework of the "English4Ukraine" project (including conferences, round tables, master classes, trainings, etc.).

Practical result for the Institute:
Within the framework of the agreements reached, MSU provides free access to training courses for educational institutions, civil servants, local governments, public and charitable organizations. This approach creates conditions for a targeted improvement of the English language level of the Institute's employees and the development of international project activities.
The partnership is considered a strategic tool that combines the development of human capital, internationalization and institutional sustainability of the Institute.

From January 1, 2026, the Department of International Cooperation and Project Activities, headed by Ph.D. of Economics, Senior Reseacher Solomiya TKACH, began its activities at the Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The creation of the Department is a strategic step aimed at strengthening the internationalization of the Institute, expanding cooperation with foreign scientific institutions and universities, as well as increasing the participation of scientists in national and international grant programs, academic mobility.
As part of the launch of its activities, the Department conducted a survey of Institute employees on the topic: "International and project activity of Institute employees: needs and opportunities." The purpose of the survey was to study the experience, level of interest and needs of employees in the field of international cooperation and project activities. The results obtained allowed us to outline key barriers and requests, determine training and organizational support needs, and identify the potential for developing interdisciplinary cooperation.
The survey results will serve as the basis for shaping further steps to strengthen the Institute’s institutional capacity, more active participation in national and international grant initiatives, and expand the partner network.
The newly established department is open to cooperation and initiatives and invites scientists to join in joint work on international and project opportunities for the development of the Institute.
