12.06.2026. Lviv Industrial Forum
On 12 June 2026, the Lviv Industrial Forum took place – a professional platform for discussing current issues and prospects for the development of Ukraine’s industry in the context of military challenges, structural economic transformation and European integration processes. The event brought together representatives of state and local authorities, industrial enterprises, business associations, research institutions, higher education establishments and the expert community.
The forum addressed issues relating to the post-war restoration of Ukraine’s industrial potential, the development of industrial parks and clusters, the stimulation of investment activity, the integration of Ukrainian manufacturers into European production networks, the introduction of innovative technologies, and the strengthening of the role of regions in the implementation of the state’s industrial policy.
The forum was attended by the Institute’s Deputy Director and Head of the Department of the Real Sector of the Economy of Regions of the Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Dr.Sci. 05.06.2026, Lutsk National Technical University. 10th anniversary international scientific and practical conference “Sustainable Recovery and Peacebuilding: Innovation, Technology, Social Cohesion”
On 5 June 2026, the 10th anniversary international scientific and practical conference “Sustainable Recovery and Peacebuilding: Innovation, Technology, Social Cohesion” was held, organized by Lutsk National Technical University and NGO "Institute of Cross-Border Initiatives". The conference was co-organized by the Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The conference brought together a wide range of participants – scientists, educators, practitioners, representatives of public organizations.
Prior to the start of the conference’s plenary session, a ceremony was held to renew the strategic partnership between Lutsk National Technical University and the Institute (an Additional Agreement to the Cooperation Agreement was signed).
The renewed cooperation will be implemented through joint scientific, research, analytical and expert projects addressing various issues, in particular the sustainable regeneration of territories, communities and infrastructure systems; regional economic, social and environmental development; the economic resilience of regions and communities; the transformation of the labour market, human capital and institutional capacity; cross-border cooperation and European integration; and the security, social and cognitive resilience of society. The agreement also provides for the exchange of experience between staff of the University and the Institute, joint training, retraining and professional development of academic, research and management staff, the provision of expert and analytical support to state authorities, local government bodies and development institutions, and much more.
There were many interesting presentations at the conference. During the plenary session, the Director of the Institute, Doctor of Economics Taras Vasyltsiv, delivered a presentation on the topic “Tools for overcoming challenges and transforming the labour market within the framework of regional economic sustainability”.
The event was attended by Doctor of Economics, Professor Halyna Voznyak. During the plenary session (report "Financial Sustainability of Communities: From War Adaptation to Strategic Recovery"), they talked about:
  • why the financial sustainability of communities today is not only the ability to survive in war conditions;
  • the features of the transformation of financial sustainability as a dynamic characteristic of community development;
  • the need to "go beyond" the limits of balancing local budgets and the ability to finance the strategic goals of recovery and progress of communities without losing financial balance in the long term.
Today, it is already obvious that in the coming years, it is territorial communities that will be the subjects of post-war reconstruction, attracting investments, returning forcibly displaced persons, etc. From this perspective, the financial sustainability of territorial communities is not only the ability of the socio-economic system to withstand external shocks, but also the ability to ensure progress in the long term, accumulate recovery resources, and effectively use the opportunities that open up in the process of European integration aspirations and international support for Ukraine.
In addition, participants heard presentations from
  • Head of the Spatial Development Department, Dr of Economics, Professor Maryana Melnyk on the topic ‘Institutional challenges and barriers to the development of agglomerations in Ukraine’;
  • Senior Researcher at the Department of Cross-Border Cooperation, Ph.D. of Economics Yaroslava Kalat on the topic «Cross-border population mobility in the context of crisis challenges: the experience of the Ukrainian-Polish border region».

May 13-17, 2026. III International Financial Forum “Modern Finance: National Resilience, Security, Innovative Leadership” (Ternopil)
On May 13-17, 2026, the III International Financial Forum "Modern Finance: National Resilience, Security, Innovative Leadership" was held at the Western Ukrainian National University (Ternopil), organized by the Department of Finance named after S. I. Yuriy together with the Ukrainian-American Association of Higher Education Employees, which became a platform for professional dialogue for developing innovative management solutions aimed at solving urgent problems of financial space transformation, finding directions for strengthening national resilience, enhancing security and developing innovative leadership in the face of military challenges and global turbulence.
The discussion platform “Geosecurity and National Sustainability of Public Finances” was attended by Doctor of Economics, Professor Halyna VOZNYAK, who in her speech “Budget Planning in the Public Investment System: Challenges for Regional and Local Development” drew the attention of the audience to:
  • the need to implement a reform of public investment management, which is designed to ensure the transition from fragmented financing to strategic, transparent and medium-term planning of the development of communities and regions;
  • the feasibility of implementing the “portfolio logic” of investment management;
  • challenges and barriers to implementing the reform at the local level.
The speech focuses on budget planning as the basis of public investment reform, since the budget allows strategic community development goals to be transformed into specific financial solutions. Public investment without high-quality budget planning is a set of unsystematic and chaotic projects. Access to funding will be granted to those communities that have clearly defined strategic priorities (from now on, the strategy is the basis for making decisions about project financing) and have prepared high-quality projects.
