On June 24, 2021, the cyclic 10th International Scientific Conference "Sustainable Development in Management and Finance: Science, Business and Self-Government" was held online, organized by: the Faculty of Management of the Czestochowa Polytechnic, Higher Banking School in Poznan (Chorzow Branch), Warsaw Main Trade School and the Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of NAS of Ukraine.
The event has traditionally brought together scientists, economists and managers from different countries, who had the opportunity to share research results and practical experience. More than 70 scientists from Ukraine, Poland, USA, Austria, Great Britain and Japan took part in the conference.

On June 10-11, 2021, the International Round Table on topic "Peculiarities of Local Economic Development in the Ukraine-Moldova-Romania Cross-Border Area" was held by the Academy of Public Administration of the Republic of Moldova within the Jean Monnet project "Stimulating Local Economic Growth in Border Regions". EU: Best Practices of the Eastern Partnership Countries ”, coordinated by the Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The co-organizers of the event were Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of NAS of Ukraine, University of Oradea (Romania), Institute for Euroregional Studies (ISER) (Romania), University of Debrecen (Hungary), Center of Excellence at SGH Warsaw School of Economics (CEWSE) (Poland), Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (Ukraine). The event, held in a hybrid format, brought together researchers and managers in the field of local government development and cross-border cooperation from five countries (Ukraine, Romania, Poland, Hungary and Moldova).

On May 27-28, 2021, an international round table "The EU's eastern borders during the pandemic: consolidating efforts in the triad of representatives of academic institutions - civil society - politics" that organized by the scientific community of the University of Oradea (Romania) in the framework of the Jean Monnet project “European Union and its Neighborhood. Network for enhancing EU’s actorness in the Eastern Borderlands ” was held.
The event was attended by employees of the cross-border cooperation sector of the Institute. The head of the sector, Doctor of Economics Khrystyna Prytula presented on a report "Competitive advantages of Ukrainian border regions under the conditions of European integration processes", senior researcher, Ph.D. Anna Maksymenko reported on the prospects for the development of Ukrainian manufacturers of ready-made clothing in the Covid-19 crisis ("Opportunities for Ukrainian garment industry development in Covid-19 crisis").
The round table also featured presentations by scholars from Poland, Hungary and Romania, covering a wide range of issues related to the impact of the global pandemic on the EU's borders, the challenges facing border regions, their investment opportunities and the transformation of cross-border cooperation instruments.

On May 19, 2021, the International Scientific Conference "Challenges of Modern Entrepreneurship and Regional Development" was held online on the Teams platform, organized by the Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of NAS of Ukraine and the University of Lodz (Poland). The conference was co-organized by the Institute of Industrial Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Institute of Coal Energy Technologies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Center of Entrepreneurship of the University of Lodz (Poland), Siauliai State College (Lithuania), the Faculty of Economics of West Bohemian University (Czech Republic).
More than 50 scientists from 5 countries, namely Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Lithuania, took part in the conference.

On May 11, 2021 Western Research Center of NAS of Ukraine and MES of Ukraine together with co-organizers - Representation "Polish Academy of Sciences" in Kiev, Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of NAS of Ukraine, Institute of Carpathian Ecology of NAS of Ukraine, Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Lviv Regional State Administration held an International Scientific and Practical Conference "Current issues of use and conservation of natural resources of the border areas of Ukraine and Poland." The introductory speech at the conference was made by the Chairman of the Scientific Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Zinoviy Nazarchuk and Acting Director of the Representation of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kyiv Mateusz Bialas.

On November 3, 2020, the V International Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists "Prospects for Entrepreneurship Development in a Global Perspective" was held online on the Microsoft Teams platform.
The main organizers of the conference were: Department of Entrepreneurship and Industrial Policy, Faculty of Management, University of Lodz, Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, SKN Globalni, Center for Entrepreneurship FULU, Council of Young Scientists of the Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, NPO "Institute of Regional Studies", Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
The purpose of the conference was to discuss current issues of entrepreneurship and innovation through the exchange of views and experiences of young scientists, as well as integration and cooperation in international teams in the field of entrepreneurship and its development, support for enterprises in global problems and issues related to entrepreneurial behavior and business environment.

On October 28, 2020, the International Scientific Seminar "Problems of Regional and Local Development in Poland and Ukraine" was held online on the ZOOM platform.
The organizers and participants of the seminar were: the Department of Regional Economic Policy of the Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Department of Economics and Management of the Institute of Economics and Finance of the University of Rzeszów (Poland).
The purpose of the seminar was to get acquainted with the research of these departments, to discuss the problems of regional and local development in Poland and Ukraine. I. R. Myshchyshyn, a researcher at the Department of Regional Environmental Policy and Nature Management, took an active part in the preparation of the scientific seminar.

On September 23-24, 2020, the International Conference "Territorial and Inter-Organizational Cooperation'2020" took place in the University-Higher School of Business in Brenna (Poland). The conference program included two plenary sections and three round tables. The purpose of the event was to create networks and form international, interdisciplinary research teams that would work together to solve new scientific problems. The conference was organized in a hybrid mode.
On September 24, 2020, at the 3rd round table of the conference, the head of the cross-border cooperation sector of the Institute, Ph.D. Prytula Khrystyna Myroslavivna with the report "Cross-border cooperation at internal and external borders of EU member states - common and different features" ("Cross-border cooperation at internal and external external borders - similarities and differences") was spoke. In her speech, the speaker touched upon such issues as: how effective is cross-border cooperation in solving the problems of development of border regions, in which areas of cooperation cross-border cooperation is most successful, how effective are modern forms of cross-border cooperation, what is the difference between foreign and domestic cooperation of EU member states in organizational, coordination and financial aspects, etc.

Irreparable loss
The staff of the Dolyshniy Institute of Regional Research of NAS of Ukraine with deep sadness received the news of the death of a prominent Ukrainian scientist, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Hero of Ukraine, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine BORYS YEVHENOVYCH PATON.

The bright memory of Borys Paton will forever remain in our hearts

On October 23-25, 2019 Lviv hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Actual Problems of Environmental Protection of the Border Areas of Ukraine and Poland". The conference was devoted to the discussion of urgent problems of protection and conservation of natural resources of the border areas of Ukraine and Poland, prevention and elimination of negative impact of economic activity on the environment. Scientists and practitioners from Poland and Ukraine, including from Lviv, Kyiv, Zaporizhya, Kharkiv, Lutsk, Warsaw, Gdansk, Lublin, Jaroslav - more than 60 people took part in the conference.
