International scientific and practical conference "Modern trends in the development of the economy, entrepreneurship, technologies and their legal support" On May 29, 2024, the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Modern trends in the development of the economy, entrepreneurship, technologies and their legal support" was held at the Lviv University of Trade and Economics. The co-organizers of the conference were: Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Institute for Modernization of Education Content, Ukrcoopspilka, Wroclaw University of Economics and Business, Cooperative and Trade University of Moldova, Warsaw University of Natural Sciences, Częstochowa University of Technology, Frankfurt Business School, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Odesa National University of Economics, Zaporizhia National University, Poltava University of Economics and Trade, Khmelnytskyi Cooperative Trade and Economic Institute, Vinnytsia Cooperative Institute. Domestic and foreign scientists, as well as representatives of international organizations, took part in the conference. At the plenary session, the Head of the Department of problems of social and humanitarian development of the regions, Doctor of Economics, Prof. Taras Vasyltsiv with a report on subject "Competitiveness of the labor market, migration security and regional development: problems and prospects of provision in modern conditions." International Forum "Economics of Recovery: National and Regional Dimensions", Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University (Kyiv, Ukraine) On April 18, 2024, the International Forum "Economics of Recovery: National and Regional Dimensions" was held, organized by the Department of Regional Studies and Tourism of KNEU in partnership with the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the Organization of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning, the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Economic Development, the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine, the Association of Cities of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Association of Spatial Planners, the Association of Hotel Associations and Hotels of Cities of Ukraine, the German Urban Institute, the Center for Demographic, Urban and Environmental Research of the University of Mexico City (Mexico), the Center for Refugee, Migrant and Displaced Persons Studies of Virginia Polytechnic University, Blacksburg (USA). The purpose of the Forum was to discuss the current state and prospects for the development of territorial communities, regions and individual sectors of the national economy of Ukraine, taking into account existing challenges and threats, as well as to identify strategic directions for their restoration in the post-war period. Senior Research Fellow of the Department of Spatial Development of the M. I. Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the NAS of Ukraine, Ph.D. of Economics, Senior Researcher Solomiya Tkach delivered a report at the forum entitled “Housing Problems of Internally Displaced Persons in the Lviv Agglomeration”, which examined the peculiarities of the housing market in the agglomeration, existing problems and challenges faced by IDPs and ways to solve them by local authorities and the public sector. VІІІ International Scientific Conference ”Prospects for the Development of Entrepreneurship from a Global Perspective” in online mode On April 17, 2024, the VIII International Scientific Conference "Prospects for the Development of Entrepreneurship from a Global Perspective" was held online on the Teams platform, organized by the University of Lodz (Poland) together with Aegean University (Turkey), Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. The Scientific Council of the conference included the Institute's Deputy Director for Scientific Work, Dr.Sci. of Economics, Prof. Iryna Storonyanska and the Head of the Department of problems of the real sector of the regional economy, Dr.Sci. of Economics, Prof. Svitlana Ishchuk. The purpose of the conference was to discuss current problems of entrepreneurship and innovations in the development of the business environment at the international, national and local levels, as well as establishing cooperation in international teams. | 08-11.04.2024. 14th World Congress of the International Association for Regional Studies (RSAI) "Sustainable Regional Economic Growth: Global Challenges and New Trajectories of Regional Development", John von Neumann University (Kecskemét, Hungary) On April 8-11, 2024, the 14th World Congress of the International Association for Regional Studies (RSAI) "Sustainable Regional Economic Growth: Global Challenges and New Trajectories of Regional Development" was held, in which representatives from 40 countries of the world participated to present and discuss existing problems, new methods and results in regional science. The goal of the congress was to unite the key elements of multidisciplinary regional scientific research and provide a scientific platform for presenting and discussing research at the border of spatial sciences. Topics such as agglomeration economics, urban-rural relations, migration, spatial distribution of resources, border effects, urbanization, sustainable cities, mobility, land use, environmental quality, disaster management, energy transition, cultural heritage, poverty, segregation, spatial modeling are just some of the issues that were addressed during the three-day RSAI World Congress in 2024. In addition, special sessions were held on other topics. Keynote speakers at the Congress were Prof. Özge Öner (University of Cambridge, UK; ERSA), Prof. Eduardo Haddad (University of São Paulo, Brazil; LARSA); Prof. Hee-Jeon Jun (Sungkyunkwan University, Korea; PRSCO) and Prof. Sarah A. Lowe (University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA; NARSC). Ukraine was represented in person at the World Congress by Senior Research Fellow of the Spatial Development Department of the M. I. Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the NAS of Ukraine, Ph.D. of Economics, Senior Researcher Solomiya Tkach, who delivered a report on the peculiarities of urban housing policy in the context of war and post-war reconstruction using the examples of Vienna and Lviv at the special session of the Congress “Current Issues of Regional Science in Ukraine”. | 23.01.2024. Conference "Wissen für Wien. Forschungsprojekte der ÖAW zur Stadt stellen sich vor" (Knowledge for Vienna. Research projects of the Austrian Academy of Sciences on the city), Austrian Academy of Sciences (Vienna, Austria) The conference «Wissen für Wien. Forschungsprojekte der ÖAW zur Stadt stellen sich vor (Knowledge for Vienna. Research projects of the Austrian Academy of Sciences on the city)» was held on January 23, 2024, organized by the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Vienna City Council. The event presented 25 projects by fellows of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, ranging from an archaeological perspective on Vienna's past, its cultural and linguistic diversity to the specific challenges the city faces due to climate change, the pandemic and migration. Senior Research Fellow of the Institute's Spatial Development Department, Ph.D. of Economics, Senior Researcher Solomiya Tkach, as a scholarship holder of the award, delivered a report on the topic: "Housing challenges for Ukrainian refugees. A comparative analysis of Vienna and Lviv". The report highlighted the key problems and challenges that Ukrainians displaced by the war face when searching for housing in Vienna and Lviv. Also at the event, the speaker presented the concept of her research project, which will be conducted from January 21 to May 24, 2024 at the Institute for Urban and Regional Studies of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. | On November 13-14, 2023, the international conference “Prospects of building the infrastructure capacity on the freight corridors in EU-Ukraine border area” took place in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland. The event was organized within the framework of the project “Increasing the capacity of freight transportation infrastructure on EU-Ukraine borders” (No. 22220189), coordinated by the Institute of Regional Research named after M. I. Dolishny of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (hereinafter the Institute), with the support of the International Visegrad Fund. The Institute co-organized the event in collaboration with WSB University (Poland), the Institute of Geography of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (Slovakia), the University of Debrecen (Hungary), and the University of Oradea (Romania). The international conference took place in a hybrid format (offline and online) and brought together representatives from the academic community and practitioners in the field of freight transport from 13 countries. The main purpose of the event was to discuss and exchange ideas regarding the development of infrastructure for freight corridors along the Ukraine-EU border. Special attention was given to the development of logistic routes for cargo transportation, increasing the capacity of border infrastructure, promoting multimodal transportation in Ukraine and neighboring EU countries, as well as the implementation of green technologies and innovations in freight transport and multimodal terminals. The international conference "Prospects of building the infrastructure capacity on the freight corridors in EU-Ukraine border area" will be held on November 13-14, 2023 in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland On November 13-14, 2023, the international conference "Prospects of building the infrastructure capacity on the freight corridors in EU-Ukraine border area" will be held in the city of Dąbrowa Górnicza (Poland) in a mixed format. The purpose of the International Conference is to discuss and exchange opinions on the development of cargo corridor infrastructure along the Ukraine-EU border, in particular, the development of logistics routes for the transportation of goods, directions for increasing the capacity of border infrastructure, the development of multimodal transportation in Ukraine and neighboring EU countries, successful practices of state support for implementation green technologies and innovations in freight transportation and multimodal terminals in the Visegrad Four countries and Romania. | 24-25.10.2023. II International Export Forum "From the restoration of Ukraine to global economic prosperity" On October 24-25, 2023, the II International Export Forum "From the Restoration of Ukraine to Global Economic Prosperity" was held, which was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine together with the Office for the Development of Entrepreneurship and Export, the national project Diya.Business with the joint funding of the German government through the program ReACT4UA and the USAID Program "Competitive Economy of Ukraine". At the initiative of Tetyana Medinska, Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor, Senior Researcher of the Department of Spatial Development of the "Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine the forum was joined by the recipients of the Doctor of Philosophy degree from the OPP "Finance, Banking and Insurance" Yaroslav Trumko and Pavlo Oliynyk. The forum is a platform for effective dialogue between business and government. Considering the war in Ukraine and economic changes, changing orientations and sales markets, this year's forum was devoted to programs of economic recovery, presentation of the main mechanisms for supporting exports and innovations. The main panels of the event: - international trade and investments for Ukrainian business; - EU trade with Ukraine; - programs for recovery and entry into international markets of small and medium-sized businesses; - women's entrepreneurship; - presentation of e-commerce platforms. The program of the forum was devoted to the national export development strategy, EU trade policy and new mechanisms of support for national exporters, as well as projects and programs from state and business organizations operating in Ukraine. ІІІ International scientific and practical conference of higher education graduates and young scientists on the topic "Actual problems of the development of the financial and economic system: priorities and prospects" On October 19, 2023, the 3rd International scientific and practical conference of higher education graduates and young scientists on the topic "Actual problems of the development of the financial and economic system: priorities and prospects" was held on the basis of the Lviv University of Trade and Economics. Co-organizers of the event: Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; National Academy of Statistics, Accounting and Auditing; Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Faculty of Management and Business; State Biotechnological University; Prykarpattia National University named after Vasyl Stefanyk; Uzhhorod National University, Mukachevo State University, State Tax University; Higher School of Management and Banking in Poznań (Poland); Rzeszów University, Poland; State Higher Vocational and Technical College named after Prof. S. Tarnowski (Tarnobrzeg, Poland). The moderator and organizer of the scientific event is Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor Tetyana Medynska. The scientific event was opened by the Rector of the Lviv University of Trade and Economics, Dr.Sci. of Economics, Professor Petro Kutsyk. In his speech, Petro Oleksiiovych emphasized the relevance of the thematic areas of the conference's work on ensuring financial and economic stability in Ukraine in war conditions, as well as post-war economic recovery, which require new approaches to the implementation of the state's budget, tax, and monetary policies. Deputy Director of the Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Dr.Sci., Professor Iryna Storonyanska joined the greeting of the conference participants with wishes for fruitful work and exchange of ideas and achievements of the young scientific community. Representatives of the scientific community, young scientists and students of higher education from co-organizing scientific institutions spoke at the plenary session. This report was particularly interesting: Piotr Luty, Dr., Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny we Wrocławiu – Experience sharing of V4 against the shadow economy, corruption and tax avoidance in Ukraine. In the report, the project of the International Visegrad Foundation "Exchange of V4 experience in combating the shadow economy, corruption and tax evasion in Ukraine" was presented, in which Associate Professor Tetyana Medynska participates. At the plenary session, Andriy Kaspshyshak, recipient of the Doctor of Philosophy degree from the EP "Finance, Banking and Insurance" of the Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine presented a scientific report on the topic "Economic resilience of Ukraine's regions during martial law: the role of financial behavior of households" (supervisor: Dr.Sci., Professor Halyna Voznyak). More than 60 people took part in the conference online, including students of higher education, graduate students and young scientists from higher education institutions and scientific institutions of Ukraine and abroad, in particular from Lviv, Kyiv, Irpin, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Poltava, Mukachevo, Uzhhorod, Chernivtsi, Kharkiv, Ostroh, Wrocław, Rzeszów, Poznań and Tarnobrzeg. International jubilee conference "20 years of European studies and international relations in Oradea (2003-2023)" On October 11-13, 2023, an international jubilee conference "20 Years of European Studies and International Relations in Oradea (2003-2023)" was held in the city of Oradea, Romania. The main purpose of this event was to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of development in European Studies and International Relations at the University of Oradea, within the circle of scientists who actively contributed to this progress. The conference welcomed researchers from various European countries. Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was represented by Doctor of Economics Krystyna Prytula, Head of the Cross-Border Cooperation Sector, and PhD of Economics Yaroslava Kalat, Senior Researcher in the Cross-Border Cooperation Sector. Krystyna Prytula delivered a presentation titled "Development of border infrastructure along the Ukraine-EU border: addressing current challenges”, in which she addressed contemporary issues related to freight transport across the Ukraine-EU land border and proposed directions for their resolution. Yaroslava Kalat, in her presentation "Revision of the Ukraine-EU Border Role in Crisis”, focused on re-evaluating the role of the border during crisis situations and the impact of crises such as COVID-19 and the Russian war against Ukraine on passenger and freight movements across the Ukraine-EU border.
